What happens if you discover you have an outstanding warrant for your arrest filed against you? Should you rush to get an attorney or do the job yourself? Even though you are presumed innocent until proven guilty, representing yourself against the charges in an arrest warrant is not advisable. These are serious charges that may result in jail time and/or huge fines. Unless you are familiar with California’s Criminal Code and the Rules of Court Procedure, you may end up making matters worse for yourself. If you cannot afford an attorney, the court will appoint an attorney to represent you upon your request.
